AYA Choices Study

The AYA Choices study is being done to learn how Adolescents and Young Adults navigate choices in their health care. This study will interview: 

  • a small number of people aged 15 and up who are living with serious, chronic illnesses excluding cancer; and
  • a small number of specialists or providers who have experience caring for this population and with pediatric palliative or hospice care.

What is the purpose of this study?

The goal of this study is to identify how adolescents and young adults (AYAs) living with chronic, complex conditions take part in their health care coordination. Interviews with patients, providers, and specialists will explore personal experiences and values, challenges in coordinating care, strategies for success, and more.

Patients, you may be able to join if...

  • You are 15 or older
  • You are living with any serious, chronic illness besides cancer
  • You make health care choices with at least one provider involved in pediatric palliative or hospice care

  • You have training or experience making health care decisions in pediatric palliative or hospice care
  • You have any experience with this patient population
